It is said that a poisoning symptom of this substance is characterized by type II pyrethroid toxicity.
Signs of piloerection, subdued behavior, ataxia, unsteady gait, incontinence, exploratory behavior, and so on were observed in the oral administration to rats and mice (LD50 values: 56 to 79 mg/kg for rats and 19.9 mg/kg for mice), and same signs were shown in the dermal administration to rats (LD50 values: 632 to 696 mg/kg). (EHC 99 (1990))
Because the doses are within a range of Category 1 in guidance values judging from LD50 values, it was classified in Category 1 (nervous system).
Furthermore, it was classified in Category 3 (respiratory tract irritation) because a human epidemiological survey reported irritation to nose and throat accompanied by a cough and sneezing as the most common signs via an exposure by using insecticides containing this substance (JECFA .53 (2004)).

This substance, which is a type II pyrethroid, has basically the same mode of action as other pyrethroids. (EHC 99 (1990))
On the basis that 52-week oral administration in dogs reported clear clinical signs showing neurological effects without changes in nervous tissues in all animals at a dose of 3.5 mg/kg/day corresponding to Category 1 in Guidance values (EHC 99 (1990)), it was classified in Category 1 (nervous system).
