In a combined repeated dose toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test (OECD TG 422) using rats administered by the oral route (gavage), a lowered fertility index was observed at 500 mg/kg/day where general toxicity (reduced body weight gain, increases in liver weights, atrophy and regeneration of tubular epithelium) was observed in the parental animals, and in non-pregnant animals, examples in which vaginal plugs were not seen or in which the number of sperm was small in vaginal smears, were observed.
