1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Category 3 |
Danger |
H301 | P301+P310 P264 P270 P321 P330 P405 P501 |
From a report that mortality was 5/5 at 1.25 mL/kg (1188 mg/kg) and 5/6 at 0.625 mL/kg (594 mg/kg) in a rat test (HSDB (2003)), the substance corresponds to the category with higher hazard than Category 4. However, a dermal LD50 value is 134 mg/kg. Since the oral absorption was estimated to be similar or greater than the dermal absorption, the substance was classified into Category 3 exceptionally. Also, it could be classified into Category 2. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Category 2 |
Danger |
H310 | P302+P352 P361+P364 P262 P264 P270 P280 P310 P321 P405 P501 |
Based on a LD50 value of 0.141 mL/kg (134 mg/kg) for rabbits (HSDB (2003)), the substance was classified into Category 2. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Gases) | Not classified (Not applicable) |
- |
- | - | Liquid (GHS definition) | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Vapours) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | Classification not possible due to lack of data. As relevant information, the test substance was administered to rats for 136 minutes (100% mortality) or 68 minutes (no mortality) at saturated vapour pressure concentration and LT50 was determined to be 96 minutes (HSDB (2003)). | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Inhalation: Dusts and mists) | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | No data available. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
2 | Skin corrosion/irritation | Not classified |
- |
- | - | Based on a report that no irritation was noted on 4 rabbits and moderate capillary injection was noted on one rabbit in a primary dermal irritation test where either undiluted substance or diluted substance (10, 1, 0.1, 0.01%) was applied in 0.01 mL amounts to the skin of 5 rabbits (HSDB (2003)), the substance was classified as "Not classified". | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Category 2 |
Warning |
H319 | P305+P351+P338 P337+P313 P264 P280 |
Based on a result in an eye irritation test using 3 rabbits (OECD TG405 (GLP)) where irritation index MMAS (correspond to AOI) was 21.7, corneal opacities and conjunctivae redness were observed in 1/3 rabbit until day 7 after application and the effects were completely reversible on day 14 (ECETOC TR48 (1998)), the substance was classified into Category 2. | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |

H371 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
In a rat oral test at 0.625 mL/kg (594 mg/kg) and 1.25 mL/kg (1188 mg/kg) which are within the guidance value range for Category 2, toxic signs such as sluggish, unsteady gait and convulsions were observed and gross pathology revealed mottled red and tan livers and pale kidneys. Almost all rats died at 0.625 - 2.5 mL/kg (594 - 2376 mg/kg). In a rabbit dermal test, at 0.2 mL/kg (190 mg/kg) and higher doses which are within the guidance value range for Category 1, lacrimation and convulsions were observed and gross pathology revealed mottled red and light tan livers and pale kidneys. The LD50 was determined to be 0.141 mL/kg (134 mg/kg). The animals died at dose levels within the guidance value ranges for both oral and dermal routes. This information are reported in a document in List 2. Neurologic symptoms such as convulsion were observed with both the oral and dermal routes. The substance was classified into Category 2 (central nervous system) (HSDB (2003)). | FY2009 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (March, 2009) |
