1 | Acute toxicity (Oral) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | All of reporeted LD50 values of 3503 mg/kg (HSDB (2010)), 4372 mg/kg and 2500 to 5000 mg/kg (both BUA 234 (2001)) for rats correspond to "Not classified" in JIS classification (Category 5 in UN GHS classification). | FY2011 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
1 | Acute toxicity (Dermal) | Not classified |
- |
- | - | From no death at the administration of 2000 mg/kg and an LD50 value of >2000 mg/kg bw in rats (HSDB (2010)), it was classified as "Not classified." | FY2011 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |

From an LC50 value of 4.6 mg/L/4h for rats (838 ppm) (HSDB (2010)), it was classified in Category 3. Besides, a reference value of gasses as vapour with hardly included mist is applied because the LC50 value (838 ppm) is lower than 90 % of the saturated vapour pressure concentration (2895 ppm). |

On the basis that it was assessed as severely irritating with a primary irritation index of 5.4 (maximum 8) in an occlusive test (OECD TG 404) applied 0.5 mL of undiluted this substance to rabbits for 4 hours (BUA 234 (2001)), it was classified in Category 2. | FY2011 | GHS Classification Guidance by the Japanese Government (July, 2010) |
3 | Serious eye damage/eye irritation | Not classified |
- |
- | - | In a test dropped 0.1 mL of undiluted this substance to 3 rabbits (OECD TG 405), corneal opacity and iritis were not observed. The conjunctival redness of grade 2 in two animals and grade 1 in one animal, and chemosis in two animals (score: 0.67, 1.33) reversed within eight days. And a primary irritation index (equivalent to AOI) was 5.5 (/110) less than 15. (BUA 234 (2001)) Therefore, it was classified as "Not classified." |

4 | Skin sensitization | Not classified |
- |
- | - | In a maximization test in guinea pigs (OECD TG 406), no skin reactions in any animals in a challenge with this substance (30% solution) was observed. And a positive rate was 0% (0/20). And it was concluded that it is not sensitizing to this substance in the maximization test in guinea pigs. (BUA 234 (2001)) Therefore, it was classified as "Not classified." |

5 | Germ cell mutagenicity | Classification not possible |
- |
- | - | The classification is not possible due to no in vivo test data. Besides, a negative in an Ames test (BUA 234 (2001)) and a negative in a chromosomal aberration test using rat hepatocytes (HSDB (2010)) were reported as in vitro tests. |

Warning |
H371 | P308+P311 P260 P264 P270 P405 P501 |
Neurotoxicity of this substance is considered to be caused by the hemorrhage in the spinal cord due to vascular injury. Irreversible forelimb paralysis was reported at 0.075 mL (65 mg) in the single oral administration to rats (PATTY (5th, 2001), and the dose of 65 mg in oral administration, which converted to 325 to 650 mg/kg if a rat body weit is 100 to 200 g, correspond to Category 2 in Guidance values. Besides, in an inhalation exposure test (vapour) (4.0 to 4.6 mg/L) in rats, nervous symptoms such as abnormal gait, tremor, fasciculation, and convulsions were observed (HSDB (2010)). The test concentration corresponds to Category 1 in Guidance values, but it corresponds to Category 2 because data are from List 2 and do not meet Decision Criteria 1b3) (OECD TG and GLP). Therefore, it was classified in Category 2 (nervous system). |
