Based on the rat LD50 = 53.3mg/kg in the oral administration tests (Dokubutu Gekibutu Toriatukai no Tebiki (Handbook for Handling Poisonous and Deleterious Substances) (Jiji Press Co., 2001)), the substance was classified as Category 3.

[Note] We could not obtain the information about the health hazards in the Priority 1 and 2 documents, because this substance does not have a CAS number. So we used the findings on the free body, blasticidin S (ID1344, CAS 2079-00-7), when necessary.

P337+P313
P264
P280
Since stimulation for the human eye was especially strong (guidance of poisonous and deleterious substances handling, Jiji Press, 2001), it was set as Category 2A-2B. In addition, detailed categorization is difficult. It is set as Category 2A-2B about blasticidin S (ID1344, CAS 2079-00-7). FY2006 GHS Classification Manual (10 Feb, 2006)

Although there is no data about this product, since Blasticidin S (ID 1344, CAS: 2079-00-7) is considered as Category 2 (heart) as an acute symptoms in humans from hypotension and arrhythmia (HSDB, 2004; RTECS, 2004). It was judged that this product also had the same characteristic, and it was considered as Category 2 (heart). FY2006 GHS Classification Manual (10 Feb, 2006)
9 Specific target organ toxicity - Repeated exposure Classification not possible
-

- - No data available FY2006 GHS Classification Manual (10 Feb, 2006)
10 Aspiration hazard Category 1

Danger
H304 P301+P310
P331
P405
P501
Since no data of this product, however, blasticidin S (ID 1344, CAS 2079-00-7) is classified as Category 1 because of the aspiration pneumonia as the acute symptoms in human (HSDB, 2004), we judged that this product also had the same characteristics, and we classified it as Category 1.
