- - In a reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test with rats by repeated oral administration to males before and during mating and females before mating, through mating and gestation, until day 3 of lactation (OECD test guideline, GLP-compliant), parent animals showed general toxicity at the high dose (300 mg/kg), but no treatment-related effects were observed in fertility examination, observation of delivery and maternal behavior, viability and observation of performance status of offspring, etc. (JECDB (Access on June 2012)). And in a developmental toxicity test by oral administration of 25 mg/kg to mice on gestational days 7, 9, and 11, no effects on litter size, postimplantation loss, and incidence of malformations were found (SIDS (1994)). From the above results, no adverse effects on sexual function/fertility of parent animals or the development of offspring for the substance were seen, but it was questionable to use the developmental toxicity test with mice as the rationale to classify as "Not classified" because the test used only one dose that was very low (25 mg/kg: 1/92-1/48 of an LD50 value), and the dosing period was as short as three days during the gestation period (gestational days 7, 9, and 11).
