- - In the acute oral study in rats, salivation was observed immediately after administration at 300 mg/kg, and no abnormalities were found at necropsy. All three rats died by the following day at 2000 mg/kg, and clinical signs and necropsy findings observed were reported as follows: salivation, decreased locomotor activity, prone position, cyanosis, and bradypnea, and perforation of the stomach, dark reddish patch in mucous of the glandular stomach, thickening of the mucous of the glandular stomach and/or the forestomach, and ascites, respectively ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Nov. 2010)). Since it was difficult to specify the target organ(s) merely from the information described above and there were no other treatment-related obvious findings at the dose levels within the guidance values, "Classification not possible" was justified. As relevant information, it was reported that the substance had a direct irritating effect on the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, and that these damages of the gastrointestinal tract might cause to death ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Nov. 2010)). However, since the injuries of the gastrointestinal tract mentioned above were considered as the effects of local irritation, these findings were not evidenced to classify. In the combined repeated dose oral toxicity study with the reproduction/developmental toxicity screening test in rats (OECD TG 422, GLP-compliant), weights of the testes and epididymides reduced at 300 mg/kg, and pathological examinations revealed the testicular dysfunction at 100 and 300 mg/kg (converted values as that of 90-day study: 46.7 - 140 mg/kg/day) ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Nov. 2010)). Additionally, it was also reported that the testicular dysfunction was speculated from the histopathological findings at 300 mg/kg as alterations caused by injuries in Sertoli cells and was considered as delayed typed- or progressive lesions ("Toxicity Testing Reports of Environmental Chemicals" (Chemicals Investigation Promoting Council) (Access on Nov. 2010)).
