actVA-ORF3とactVA-ORF5(たぶんactVA-ORF4も)は、act mutantsの相補実験からC-6 hydroxylationに関与するとされている。ただ、ここで使用しているactVA-ORF3のN末は欠損していて、実験的に微妙。

actVA-ORF1-5を含むpIJ2315をmedermycin産生株に導入するとhybrid化合物mederrhodin A(8-hydroxymedermycin)を産生するので、C-8 hydroxylationへの関与についても述べられている。
