pokMT2: C-methyltransferase

PokMT2はSAM-dependent methyltransferaseであると配列解析から提唱される。

pokMT2不活化mutantは新規化合物POK-MD3を産生。
構造解析でPOK-MD3は6-demethylpolyketomycinであることが判明。
よって、PokMT2はpolyketomycin生合成においてC-6をmethylateする。

B.subtilis COHN ATCC6051への抗菌活性は
polyketomycin > 6-demethylpolyketomycin
よって、polyketomycinの抗菌活性にmethyl基は重大な意味を持つ。
