sgcC1欠損株を作製、C-1027産生が見られなかったことから必須遺伝子だとしている。
sgcC to sgcC5, encoding beta-amino biosynthesis.
機能解析はしていない。

C-1027のbeta-amino acid moiety生合成の報告

sgcC1とsgcC2は大腸菌で発現・精製、過剰発現させた
アミノ酸依存性のATP-[32P]PPi exchange dataから、SgcC1は(S)-beta-tyrosine特異的なbeta-amino acid-activating adenylation enzymeであることを示した。
また、FT-MSの解析から(S)-beta-tyrosineの活性化とSgcC2の(S)-beta-tyrosinylationは、(S)-beta-tyrosineのchlorinationとhydroxylationより前に行われることを示した。

SgcC1の機能解析

SgcC1はL-alpha-tyrosineを活性化するA domainと相同性を示した。nonribosomal codesのアライメント比較から、SgcC1のAsp235とLys517はalpha-amino and the carboxylate groupsと相互作用すると推測された。また、SgcC1の基質特異性は、alpha-amino acidsではなくbeta-phenyl-alanine or beta-tyrosine analogsのみを認識、特に(S)-beta-tyrosineがSgcC1の基質としてもっとも好ましかった。
