dnrO::aphII mutant strainはdaunorubicin (DNR)非産生。
このmutant strainにdnrN or dnrI を導入すると生合成可能。
dnrI 発現はDnrNが必要なことがわかっているので、dnrN発現にDnrOが必要ということが示される。

DnrO → dnrN = DnrN → dnrI = DnrI →DNR生合成genes

DnrOをE.coliで過剰発現し、抽出液でmobility shift DNA-binding assays。
DnrOが特異的にoverlapping dnrN/dnrO(p1) promoter regionへ結合するので、DnrOはdnrNとdnrOの両方の発現を調節するかもしれない。

dnrO, dnrN, dnrI, DNRが関与する細胞内DNR濃度維持システムが提唱されている。
DnrOはDnrNと競合してfeedback的にDNRの細胞内濃度を調節している。
