lipReg3挿入変異株では野生株に比べてalpha-lipomycinの生産が4倍以上に上昇し、この変異株にlipReg3を相補するとalpha-lipomycinの生産が野生株の1/3程度となることが示されており、LipReg3はalpha-lipomycin生産に対してnegativeに制御している可能性が示唆されている。

さらに、lipReg3挿入変異株ではlipEx1(lipomycin exporterとして機能することが推測)の発現量が野生株に比べて有意に上昇しており、LipReg3はlipEx1の発現を制御している可能性が示されている。
