elloramycinのsugar motiety L-rhamnose生合成に必要なrhaA-D genesは、PKSなどが含まれるclusterとは別のclusterに存在する。両subclustersがelloramycin生合成に必要であることは、rhaB不活化とS.lividansでの異種性plasmid発現により確認されている。

rhaD: 4-Ketoreductase

配列解析から、このORFはL-rhamnose生合成における4-ketoreductaseとして機能すると提唱されている。
