granaticinは生合成経路ではSAM-dependent methylationを必要としないが、低濃度のSAMで処理されたとき、産生が約2倍に増えた。
SAMのメチル化産物であるSAHでも同様の効果あり。
pathway-specific regulatorであるgra-orf9の転写は外因性SAM処理によって活性化される。

dnrI::aphII mutantでは、DNR生合成におけるearly- and late-acting enzymesの両方をコードする転写物が存在しない。よってdnrI は、直接または間接的にDNR生合成遺伝子のすべてを調節している。

dnrI::aphII and dnrN::aphII strainsでresistance genes=drrAB and drrC転写物は消失。
よって、dnrI はDNR抵抗性の重大なregulatorであり、dnrNはdnrI を通して間接的にその影響を発現する、と示唆される。
