植物病原菌Erwinia chrysanthemiはペクチンをC源として利用でき、その最初のステップとしてpectic oligomersの取り込み系が働く。complex sugarsの取り込み系であるcarbohydrate uptake transporter-1 familyに属するABCトランスポーター(TogMNAB)がこれを行っているとしている。大腸菌で発現するとoligogalacturonidesの輸送活性があった。Erwinia chrysanthemiではTogBはoligogalacturonidesに対する走化性にも重要らしい。
