配列解析のみ。
過去文献を引用してasm41と共にglycosylation/deglycosylation excretion systemの一部かもしれないと述べられているが、後に別の機能がわかっている。

N-methyl基の代わりにmacrolactam amide nitrogenに付着したbeta-D-glucosyl基を持っているansamitocinoside P-3 (AGP-3)を分離。

このmacrolactam amide N-glycosylationをAsm25が担うことを、遺伝子不活化、相補により同定。

また、E.coliで発現して得られたAsm25タンパクを用いて最適反応条件、基質特異性について調査。
基質として最も好まれたのはN-desmethyl-ansamitocin P-2。いくつかのansamycinsと合成indolin-2-onesも基質として受け入れられるが、糖はUDP-Gluしか使えない。

各産物のAntifungal and Antitumor活性も測定している。
