gdmRI, gdmRIIのいずれか一方の欠損株ではgeldanamycinの生産が完全に消失し、欠損した遺伝子をプラスミドで相補すると geldanamycin生産が回復すること、二つの遺伝子の転写は独立に行われ互いを制御していないこと、二つの遺伝子の転写はpolyketide生合成に関与する遺伝子と協調し、post-PKS modification 遺伝子である gdmNとは協調していないことが示されており、gdmRI と gdmRIIはgeldanamycin 生合成経路におけるpolyketide 生合成遺伝子特異的なpositive regulatorsであると結論付けている。
