SgcDは、anthranilate synthase component I (ASI)が持つpyruvate lyase activityを欠いていた。
HPLC解析は、SgcDがコリスミン酸を2-amino-2-deoxyisochorismate(ADIC)のスペクトルを示す産物へと変換させたことを示した。
