Orf14*は、7-phospho-2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-arabinoheptulosonate synthetase (DAHPS) と chorismate mutaseの活性を持つdual-function enzymeのhomologである。
(S)-4-hydroxyphenylglycine (Hpg)合成における最初のステップはOrf14*の活動に関与し、その後にshikimate経路の酵素が続き、chorismateを産生する。Orf14*はchorismate → prephenateに変換する。配列解析のみ。
