S. aminophilusはpolyeneの糖としては珍しいperosamineを含むperimycinを産生する。
S. aminophilus perDII perosamine synthaseをS. nodosus ΔamphDII mutantに導入すると19-O-perosaminyl-amphoteronolide Bが得られたが、その収量はとても少なかった。

これはAmphDI の糖基質特異性に関連すると考えられたことから、AmphDI のputative 8-deoxyamphoteronolide-binding N-terminal domainが、PerDI のputative GDP-perosamine-binding C-terminal domainと融合されたhybrid GTsが構築された。hybrid GTsがperDII と共にΔamphDII mutantで発現されると、19-O-perosaminyl-amphoteronolide Bが効率的に産生された。

putative glycosyltransferase(GT)をコードするfscMI のmutant株で、amphDI, nysDI, pimKなどの相同なGT genesは、candicidin aglycone → candicidin/FR-008-III への変換を触媒できる。

また、PKSのDH11 domainの不活化でpolyketide骨格が変化してもmycosamineを持つ新規polyene派生体が導かれ、これらpolyene GTsの基質特異性がゆるいことが確認された。
