borL insertional inactivation mutantはborrelidin産生が消滅。
borrelidin starter unitであるtrans-1,2-CPDAを加えるとborrelidin産生は回復し、wildよりも多くなる。
よって、BorLはtrans-1,2-CPDA生合成に必須である。

promoter下でborLを過剰発現すると、borrelidin生合成は4.3倍に増える。

既知の細菌タンパクとの強い類似点は見られないが、S.coelicolorのIclR and GntR family putative regulatory bacterial proteinsと弱い相同性を示すのでtrans-1,2-CPDAの調節をしているのかもしれない。
