BorKのinactivationでborrelidin産生はほとんどなくなる。
そのmutantへのtrans-1,2-CPDA添加でborrelidin産生は回復。
よって、BorKはtrans-1,2-CPDA生合成に必須。

BorK or BorMが、2-oxohept-3-ene-1,7-dioate→2-oxohepta-1,7-dioateへの還元を担うかもしれない。

Streptomyces albus J1074においてはborIとborJを共に発現したときに12-desnitrile-12-methyl-borrelidin→borrelidinへの変換が可能で、さらにborKが同時に発現されると、より効率的であった。
