fscTEはputative type II thioesterase (TEII)をコードする。
fscTE deletionでFR-008/candicidin産生は約90%減。
type I thioesteraseを不活化させたとき、FscTEは成熟伸長したpolyketideの放出を代償することができなかった。

FscTE and TylOのHydrolytic activitiesは、
propionyl-S-N-acetylcysteamine > methylmalonyl-S-N-acetylcysteamine
acetyl-S-N-acetylcysteamine > malonyl-S-N-acetylcysteamine

したがって、TEII はacyl carrier proteins(ACP)に結合する伸長できない残基を選択的に除去することにより、効果的なpolyketide生合成を維持することが結論付けられる。
