C-8とC-8 ethyl側鎖でのhydroxylationは、plmT4によってコードされるP-450 monooxygenaseによっておそらく触媒される。
plm clusterにあるもうひとつのCYP450(plmS2)がC-18を触媒することが確認されたので、消去法でC-8での触媒を割り当てている。
