鎖長によるFAの特異性を調査。FadKは短鎖FA基質(C<10)を好むacyl-CoA synthetaseであった。

また、His6-FadKによる
[1-14C]oleate → [1-14C]oleoyl-CoA
[1-14C]octanoate → [1-14C]octanoyl-CoA 
への変換を確認。この反応からCoAを除いてacyl-AMP中間体も検出している。
