aglycon3位と7位での架橋構造を形成するためにC-3 keto基をもたらすoxidaseとして機能するか、C-9 and C-10間の二重結合をもたらすoxidoreductaseであると提唱されている。
ORF4も同じ役割をする酵素の候補であるとされているが、理由はsorB and sorMの間というlocationである。
