AknX, Y, Zは糖残基の生合成に関連付けられる。

glycosyltransferase (aknS), aminomethylase (aknX), glucose-1-phosphate thymidylyltransferase (aknY) とunidentified glycosylation functions (aknT and aknV)を含むplasmid pSgs4は、aklavinoneを蓄積するS. galilaeus mutants H063と、rhodinose and deoxyfucose residuesを持つaklavinoneを産生するH054でaclacinomycinsの産生を回復。

ε-rhodomycinone(RHO)を蓄積するS. peucetius mutants M18におけるpSgs4の導入は、
RHO, L-rhamnosyl-RHO, L-daunosaminyl-RHO をもたらす。
glycosyltransferasesに欠損がないRHO蓄積S. peucetius mutants M90へのpSgs4の導入は、
RHO と L-rhamnosyl-RHO をもたらす。

AknZ: aminotransgerase(>340aa)

H054とneutral glycosidesを持つaklavinoseを産生するH065 mutantは、pSgs44(aknW, X2, Y, C末30aaを欠いたaknZ)、pSgs45(aknY, C末30aaを欠いたaknZ)である程度相補される。
mutantの表現型はAknX2に由来しないことを確認しており、AknZのC末30aa不足はaminotransferase活性を弱めるが廃止まではしないので、ある程度の相補に至っている、とのこと。
