aviX12機能解析の報告。

aviX12不活性化株は、新規avilamycin誘導体gavibamycin N1を合成した。その構造は、avilamycin Aのmannose moietyのかわりにheptasaccharide chainの構成物がglucoseになっていた。
AviX12を大腸菌で発現、精製。radical AdoMetに存在するiron sulfur cluster [3Fe-4S]は精製したAviX12から検出した。一方で、Radical AdoMet enzymesで良く保存されている[4Fe-4S]は今回の実験では検出出来なかったと記述している。
著者らはdisaccharideはD-mannoseの代わりにD-glucoseから合成され、AviX12は全体のavilamycin moleculeが産生した後、glucose moietyのC-2 epimerizationに関与すると示した。
