otcC 遺伝子がpolyketide backboneの生合成後、anthracycline structureのC-6位をhydroxyl化するanhydrotetracycline oxygenaseをエンコードしていること、また、otcC破壊株では新規のC-17 polyketide が生じることから、otcC遺伝子産物が無いことによりOxytetracycline (OTC)の“minimal”polyketide synthaseに影響を及ぼすことが示されている。
