GrhR1 and GrhR2はSARP familyのtranscriptional activatorsに似ている。
近しいGrhR1のhomologであるTylSは、他のregulatory geneの発現を調節するmaster regulatorとして機能する。
SARPsは下流遺伝子の転写を活性化するためpromoter領域に結合し、しばしばregulationに関連したTTA codonを含むがgrhR1 or grhR2には存在しない。
