grhA, grhB, grhC, grhE, grhT, grhQをクローニングして、S.albusでの異種性発現に利用しているが、うまくいっていない。

grh cluster内cyclases GrhT or GrhQのdeletionは生合成を廃止し、polyketidesは検出されなかった。
ΔgrhH-P mutantでは早期中間体形成が見られたが、ΔgrhH-Q mutantではgriseorhodin A生合成がなかった。

これらの結果から、griseorhodin A生合成における早期のpolyketide組み立てには多酵素複合体形成が必要であると述べている。
