FAD-dependent oxygenase genes (ovmOI, ovmOII, and ovmOIII)の解析。
PKS、cyclase, aromatase, and reductase genesと共にこれらFAD-dependent oxygenasesの異なる組み合わせを持ったplasmidsを構築して産物解析。

ovmOIII 以外のoviedomycin生合成必須遺伝子を組み込まれたS.albus株は、5-hydroxy-dehydrorabelomycinを蓄積。(C-5 hydroxylationはOvmOI またはhost geneによる)

ovmOII 以外のoviedomycin生合成必須遺伝子を組み込まれたS.albus株は、rabelomycinと9-hydroxyrabelomycinを蓄積。
これらはOvmOIII があるのにC-2 OH基を持たない。

この結果からOvmIII は、aromatic ringAでないとC-2 hydroxylationできず、その代りにC-9をhydroxylateすると述べている。
