生合成遺伝子の境界を決定するため、orf(-1), orf(-2), orf(-3)-orf(-5),orf(+1), orf(+2), orf(+3)-orf(+5)欠損株作製。
いずれもoxazolomycin 産生にいかなる影響も与えなかったことから、oxazolomycin生合成には関与しないと結論づけている。

xdhA, b2881(xdhD)それぞれの遺伝子のdeletion mutantを作成し、adenineからのCO2生成の変化を調べている。xdhA mutantではCO2生成の減少が見られ、XdhAはCO2の生成つまりXDH活性に関与しているとしている。
xdhABCと並んでおり、これらはおそらくheterotrimerとなって機能すると思われる。
