landomycinとurdamycinのglycosyltransferase gene cassettesで発現実験、産物解析。
LanGT1は、他のD-olivoseの4-OH基へ2つ目のD-olivoseを結合するD-olivosyltransferaseである。
LanGT4がD-olivoseの3-OH基にL-rhodinoseを付着するL-rhodinosyltransferaseである。
LanGT4の基質特異性はゆるい。

landomycin E(糖側鎖がtrisaccharide: -D-olivose-D-olivose-L-rhodinose)は、wild株でlandomycin Aへ変換されるが、lanGT1 mutantではlandomycin I (tetrasaccharide: -D-olivose-D-olivose-L-rhodinose-D-olivose)を蓄積。
これは5番目の糖の移動がLanGT1の不在下で起こることができないことを示す。
したがって、LanGT1はこれまでに示されている2番目に加えて、5番目のglycosyltransferも触媒する。

Significanceでは2番目と4番目と書いてあるが、内容を確認すると4番目→5番目の間違い。
また、同著者らの後発の論文ではlandomycin I はD-olivoseひとつのみを持ち、このtetrasaccharideを持つものはlandomycin Jとされている。
