Reveromycinの4つのPKS(RevA,RevB,RevC,RevD)は1つのloading moduleと12のextension moduleからなり、これらが恐らく13回の脱炭酸縮合反応を触媒する。

ΔrevCΔrevDでは、Reveromycinが全く生合成されなくなった。ΔrevCΔrevDにReveromycinの推定中間体を与えると、Reveromycinの生合成能が復活した。
従って、revCとrevDはReveromycinの生合成に不可欠である。

revCと登録されているが、本論文のrevBに相当すると推測される。
