Arthrobacter nicotinovoransのpAO1 plasmidからnitotine dehydrogenase (NDH) 遺伝子をクローニングしてシークエンス。さらに近傍にある6-hydroxy-L-niotine oxidase (6-HLNO)もクローニングしてシークエンス。NDHは3つのサブユニットから成ることを明らかにしている。NDH, 6-HINOの発現は培地へのニコチンとモリブデンの添加によって誘導されることを明らかにしている。タングステンの添加は発現には影響を与えないが、酵素活性が低下する。細胞中では可溶性蛋白質または膜結合型で存在し、タングステンの添加によって膜結合型が増えるとのこと。
