RifG: Aminodehydroquinate synthase

rifH, -G, and -J genesの遺伝子産物は shikimate biosynthesis pathwayに関連する酵素に似ている。rifH, G, Jの各mutantは成長に影響を与えないので、shikimate pathwayに直接関連しないことがわかる。また、mutantでもrifamycin B産生をある程度保つことから、shikimate pathwayのgeneが代替していると考えられる。

AHBA biosynthetic genesをプラスミドに組み込んだS. coelicolor YU105を使ってAHBA生産を調べると、rifGを除いた場合はAHBA biosynthetic genesが全て揃っている場合と比較して、AHBAの生産量が約10%にまで落ちることが示されており、rifGはAHBAの生産に関与していることが示されている。
