balhimycin生合成gene clusterにおけるbpsA, bpsB, bpsC, bpsD, orf1の同定。
遺伝子置換によるbpsD mutantはbalhimycinを産生しないが、遺伝子補完により回復する。

さらにBpsDの基質認識部位を様々なA domainの基質認識部位と比較したところ、tyrosineに特異的なdomainとクラスター形成したので、BpsDはchloro-beta-hydroxytyrosineの生合成に関与すると予測し検証した。bpsD mutantはbeta-hydroxytyrosine補充によってbalhimycin産生を回復したので、BpsDはbeta-hydroxytyrosine合成に関与する。
