Deposit of biological materials
NBRC accepts deposit of biological materials that are newly named, not included in our list, or any others of potential usefulness for academic and industrial uses.
The following categories of deposit are available.
Acceptable biological materials
- Kinds of the biological materials that we accept are bacteria, actinomycetes, archaea, filamentous fungi, yeasts, microalgae, bacteriophages and DNA.
However, the materials that fall under any of the following are not acceptable. - (a) “Class I Pathogens, etc.”, “Class II Pathogens, etc.”, “Class III Pathogens, etc.”, or “Class IV Pathogens, etc.” stipulated in the article 6 (20), (21), (22), and (23), respectively in the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases of Japan.
- (b) “Domestic animal infectious disease pathogen” stipulated in the article 46-5 or “pathogens of notifiable infectious diseases, etc.” stipulated in the article 46-19 in the Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Diseases Control of Japan.
- (c) Living modified organisms which require containment measures of P3, P3A, or P3P Level or above as stated in the article 4 in The Ministerial Ordinance Providing Containment Measures to be Taken in Type 2 Use of Living Modified Organisms for Research and Development of Japan (Ordinance of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Environment No. 1 of 2004. When this ordinance is amended, the revised ministerial ordinance shall be referred to).
- (d) Microorganisms that require handling at biosafety level 3 or above, and their DNA.
