mycosamine生合成に関連したGDP-D-mannose 4,6-dehydrataseをコードするamphDIII geneのmutantは、8-deoxyamphoteronolides A and Bを産生。よってmycosamineによるglycosylationはC-8 hydroxylationより前に、環外carboxyl基形成はこれら2つの修飾より前に起こる。
