megCIII: glycosyltransferase

aglycon(3-alpha-mycarosyl-erythronolide B)のC5へdesosamineを付加するglycosyltransferase.
erythromycin合成におけるdesosaminyltransferase EryCIIIに似ている。
megDIも似ているがmegCIIIのほうが似ているのでこっちをdesosaminyltransferase、megDIをproposed megosaminyltransferaseとしている。

3-alpha-mycarosylerythronolide BへのdTDP-D-desosamineのvivoでの移動のためにglycosyltransferase MegCIIIがMegCIIを必要とすることをBioconversion experimentsで実証している。

また[PMID: 20418422](2010)においてmeg clusterに存在するもうひとつのamino-sugar transferase megDI/megDVIとの関連も確認したところ、glycosyltransferaseについては基質特異的(MegCIIIはD-desosamineに、MegDIはL-megosamineに)だが、helper protein MegCII, MegDVIはどちらのglycosyltransferasesにも有効であった。
