NanT5: putative sensor histidine kinaseとNanT3: putative response regulator proteinの間に、putative chemoreceptorをコードするNanT4があり、nanT5と同じ向きで転写される。これは細菌の膜貫通シグナル伝達を暗示し、特異的な化学物質の認識と、非共有結合的に関連したhistidine kinaseの調節により、細菌のchemoreceptorsによって媒介される。

Naのionophoreとして最も役立つであろうnanchangmycinの場合、細胞内のkinase活性を調節する膜貫通シグナルを生み出すために、ligandは膜貫通receptorの外部domainに結合するかもしれない。そして順々にnanchangmycin産生を調節する。
