nanG5 deletionによりnanchangmycin生合成は廃止され、deoxy sugarを欠いたnanchangmycin aglyconeが少量蓄積する。

その他の実験結果とも合わせて、glycosylase NanG5によって触媒されるのはnanchangmycin生合成における最後から2つ目のステップで、ACPに結合したpolyether aglyconeのC-19 hydroxyl基へdeoxy sugar 4-O-methyl-L-rhodinoseを付着する、と強く示唆されている。
