DnrMはdTDP-D-glucose dehydratasesに高い配列類似性を示すが、翻訳の中途終止を引き起こすDNA配列フレームシフトがある。
dnrMの不活化、相補実験によっても、Daunorubicin (DNR)生合成に関与しないことが確認されている。

Doxorubicin (DXR) 産生株Streptomyces peucetius ATCC 27952において、rmbBがこの機能を担うことが確認されている[PMID: 19777229]。
