Elloramycin biosynthesisにおいて、L-rhamnose permethylationに応答する3つ(elmMI, elmMII, and elmMIII)のmethyltransferaseを同定した文献。elloramycin biosynthesis gene cluster中に存在するelmMI, elmMII, and elmMIIIについてクローニングし、それぞれの遺伝子をStreptomyces albusにおいてL-rhamnose生合成系遺伝子と共に発現させて、その生産物を調べている。その結果、3つのそれぞれ異なるelloramycin-type合成物の生産を確認している。また、3つのmethyltransferaseそれぞれを単独で発現させて、in vitroでのmethylating activityを確認している。
