CmmMIII : O-methyltransferase

配列解析から機能推定。
aglyconeに付着された糖をmethyl化するO-methyltransferaseに似ている。
よってCmmMIII は2糖鎖の末端D-olioseの4-O-methylationして4-O-methyl-D-olioseを生成する。

cmmMIII不活化mutantはchromomycin非産生。
すべての糖を含むがacylatoionパターンが異なるmethyl化されていない派生体を蓄積。
このうち2つはcmmMIII を発現したS.albusで、chromomycin A2 and A3へと生物変換された。

配列解析、DB比較、各geneの異種性発現、vitroでのmethylating activity測定。

これらの結果から、ElmMIII はaglyconeに付着した後の糖の4'-positionでOH基のメチル化をする。
各種糖基質に対する活性の違いから、C2', C3', C4'の順にメチル化されることもわかっている。
