grhO3 and grhO4によってコードされるputative P450/ferredoxin pairがepoxide形成するようだと提唱。

grhO3: cytochrome P450

grhO7 or grhO3 deletion mutantはdideoxygriseorhodin Cを蓄積。
dideoxygriseorhodin Cは、epoxide部分のないgriseorhodin A。
よってGrhO7 と GrhO3はepoxidation形成に一緒に関与する。
この結果から2つのepoxidation機構を提唱。

1)GrhO3とGrhO7は複合体を形成し、olefinic中間体(二重結合あり)を介してdideoxygriseorhodin Cをepoxidizeする。

2)GrhO3が単結合からepoxideを直接生成し、GrhO7は消去的副反応から生じるolefinic shunt産物の還元的再利用を担う。
