S.glaucescens由来の抗生物質tetracenomycin C (Tcm C)合成に関わる遺伝子の一つ、tcmN に関する実験論文だがtcmOについても検証されており、DNAシークエンス解析やrecombinantタンパク(MBPとのfusionタンパク)の発現解析、相補試験などを行っている。

tcmO locus内にdeletionのあるmutant IVは8-demethyl-Tcm C中間体を産生する(ref. PMID:3460987)。
tcmOを含むfragmentはこのmutant IVを相補できる。
よって、tcmOは8-O-methyl transferaseをコードする。

異種性発現の結果がtcmKLMNでもtcmKLMNOでも同じだったので、早期中間体は基質とならない。
