BarS2はNAD-dependent epimerase/dehydratase familyに属すると予測。
barS2欠損株の解析から、virginiae butanolideの生合成に関与することを示した。
BarS2はdehydration stepを触媒するNAD-dependent dehydrataseとして機能するかもしれないと考察している。
