VisAの機能解析報告。

精製したrVisAは best amino acceptorとして2-oxohexanoateと一緒に、明らかにL-lysine 2-aminotransferase activityを示した。
VisAはL-lysineをdelta1-piperidine 2-carboxylic acidへ触媒する。
欠損株の作製により、VisAは一次代謝や形態形成には関係せず、VS生合成に必須であることが示された。
また、VS生合成のスターター分子である3-hydroxypicolinic acid (3-HPA)を外部添加すると、機能が回復することからvisAがVS biosynthetic pathwayの最初の分子でL-lysineから3-HPAを供給している。
